WaterAid tasks govt on improved water provision

Water Aid Country Director Pamela Chisanga

WaterAid Zambia says the government should take action in ensuring that the people of Zambia living  without water are provided with access to clean water and sanitation services.

WaterAid Zambia Country Director Pamela Chisanga has revealed that only about 44 percent of the total population in peri-urban areas have access to clean water.

Ms. Chisanga says households in urban areas have access to improved water supply sources compared to those in rural areas.

She has told q-news in Lusaka that there is need for government to invest more in the provision of water and sanitation services which she said has been low for a long time.

Ms. Chisanga adds that the provision of adequate safe water and sanitation services are not negotiable, if Zambia’s dreams of becoming a great nation will become real in the nearest future.
