Violence discouraging women’s participation in politics

People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) President Andyford Banda says there is need to address political violence in the country in order to encourage women participation in politics.

Mr Banda has noted that violence is one the things that discourages women from participating in politics.

He says as a way to encourage women participation in leadership, his party has incorporated women in its activities as evidenced by the recent Sesheke by-election where it adopted a female candidate.

Mr Banda has also appealed to government come up come with women targeted empowerment programs to ensure that more women advance their lives in order to close the economic gap between men and women.
