Lungu accuses EFZ, CCZ & ZCCB of double standards

The three church mother bodies namely Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, Council of Churches in Zambia and Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops have been accused of playing double standards in playing their role of being neutral arbiters.

Evangelical youth alliance international (EYAI), Executive Director Moses Lungu is concerned that the EFZ, CCZ and the ZCCB are not being objective in their public statements.

Reverend Lungu is particularly disturbed that the three church mother bodies have opted to condemn the suspension of Prime TV’s broadcasting license without weighing the grounds upon which this action taken.

Speaking at a media briefing, Reverend Lungu wondered whether the three church mother bodies have read and understand the provisions of the independent broadcasting authority (IBA) Act for them to issue the statement they did.

Reverend Lungu says the civil society have equally risen in blind solidarity of the Prime TV without looking at what has prompted the suspension of the station’s broadcasting license.

He adds that the US embassy, which has called for the reversal of the suspension of Prime TV, has also exhibited ignorance about the provisions of the IBA act.
