FAO provides US$400, 000 emergency response

The Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) says it has provided US$400, 000 towards emergency response in the country.

FAO Country Representative George Okech says the money will be used to address issues to do army worms as well as fight El Nino.

Dr Okech says his organization has since dispatched some officers to go round the country and help control the pests.

He notes that the people of Southern and Western provinces are grappling with the impact of El Niño that has destroyed crops and is likely to leave people extremely hungry.

Dr Okech says the country’s food security risks being affected due to the dry spell that has characterized the Southern and Western parts of the country during the 2018-2019 agricultural season.
