Adopting non-violent values key in fighting GBV in the country-OXFAM

Oxfam Country Director Dailes Judge says adopting non-violent values and upholding the dignity of women in the society is key in fighting Gender Based Violence in the country.

And Ms. Judge says celebrating women achievements in the society must not only be during the women’s day commemoration, but a way of life because it is key in countering Gender Based Violence in the society.

Ms. Judge said this during the launch of the “I care about her campaign” Song by Brian Bwembya popularly known as B-flow ahead of the International women’s day commemoration which falls on 8th March.

She says Oxfam was prompted to embark on the campaign after a research they conducted revealed that women, wives and girls are the most victims of GBV in the society.

And Kantu Siachingili who is one of the ambassadors of the ‘I care about her campaign’ expressed concerned that most women do not understand the different forms of Gender Based Violence that exist.

She has also called for a change of mindset with regards how society portrays women.

Meanwhile Roy Kazembe also known as Chocklet called for an end to inequality in the society.
