US calls for reversal of Prime TV suspension

The United States has called for the reversal of Prime Television’s broadcast ban.

US Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote says the United States government remains a staunch advocate for inherent human freedoms around the world.

Mr. Foote has expressed concern over the Independent Broadcast Authority’s decision to suspend Prime TV’s broadcasting license.

In a statement made available to Q-news, Mr. Foote has recognized that the fundamental freedoms of speech and the press are critical for the advancement of a vibrant democracy.

The US Ambassador says the U-S government finds the suspension of Prime TV’s license counterproductive to upholding these principles, and encourages an urgent reconsideration of this action.
