3 people arrested for spate of robberies in Matero

Police have arrested three people in connection with a spate of robberies and aggravated robberies recently experienced in Lusaka’s Matero Township.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says this was after Police in the area received a lot of complaints from members of the public that gangs had emerged in Chitanda area of Chunga Compound and Shadreck area in George Compound and were terrorizing members of the public.

Ms Katongo says Police conducted an operation and managed to apprehend three suspects among them gang leaders.

She has identified the suspects as Bramo whose real identity is Abraham Zika aged 22 of Matero Township, believed to be the leader of the gang that has been terrorizing people in Shadreck area, Boyd Mwansa aged 19 alleged to be a leader of a gang that has been attacking people in Chitanda area and Lackson Daka aged 21.

Ms Katongo says the suspects are in police custody charged with aggravated robbery.

She has since called upon members of the public who could have been attacked to go and identify the suspects at Matero Police Station.
