Mulongoti still admitted in hospital – Mwamba

People’s Party president Mike Mulongoti is still receiving specialized medical treatment in South Africa.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba disclosed that Mr. Mulongoti was made an outpatient two weeks ago at Awryp Medical Centre in Johannesburg.

He however says a recent development necessitated that he be re-admitted into hospital.

And Mr. Mwamba says he is not aware of any press statement that has been issued by Mr. Mulongoti.

He says Mr. Mulongoti or his wife Betty can however clarify on the purported press statement circulating on social media that he has left the Opposition Alliance.

Meanwhile Mr. Mwamba has also disclosed that the treatment and review of University of Zambia (UNZA) student Everett Chongo has gone very well.

He says Everett was in South Africa last week for medical review for doctors to ascertain and observe the continued healing of her spine and legs.

Mr. Mwamba notes that doctors were happy with the tremendous progress she has made after the review.

Everett sustained injuries to her spine and legs when she jumped from the 3rd floor of her UNZA Hostel.

This is according to a statement made available to Q-News by first secretary press and public relations at the Zambian mission in South Africa Naomi Nyawali.
