Genuine dialogue, the only solution to end political violence – UNIP

UNIP Deputy Secretary General Reverend Alfred Banda

United National Independent Party (UNIP) Deputy Secretary General Reverend Alfred Banda says genuine dialogue is the only solution to end political violence which has escalated to very alarming and dangerous levels in the recent past.

Rev Banda says the country needs political will especially from the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and the United Party for National Development (UPND) to end such violence.

He has appealed to those holding the instruments of power to emulate first Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda who showed a lot of political will and was able to talk to the opposition for the good of the country.

Reverend Banda has also appealed to leaders to be civil in their language, adding that whatever they do has a huge impact on the people.

He has lamented that instead of condemning violence, the leaders are now in the forefront of inciting violence which should not be the case.

Reverend Banda has also stated that the country needs a Police Service which is going to work with the community, be professional and discharge its duties in a fair manner.
