World Vision Zambia and Backlays sign an MoU

World Vision Zambia and Barclays Bank Zambia PLC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at improving the wellbeing of more than 15,000 underprivileged children and their families in Chongwe and Chilanga Districts with an investment of about K1.1 million.

World Vision Zambia National Director John Hasse says the MOU will see the two organizations helping in the construction of a one by three classroom block at Chipata secondary school in Chilanga as well as provision of potable water to the maternity annex at Kampekete Rural Health Centre in Chongwe among other projects.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka, Mr. Hasse has emphasized that enhancing people’s access to health services and the basic necessities of life is at the core of the MOU.

Mr. Hasse believes that this will in the long run transform the livelihoods of the people.

And Barclays Bank Zambia Managing Director Mizinga Melu says the three year partnership is timely because this is what people expect from them.

Ms. Melu says Barclays Bank Zambia Plc has invested over 15 million Kwacha in the last 2 years in different programs through shared growth strategy.

And officiating at the event, Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Pamela Kabamba stressed that government is promoting Public Private Partnership in a bid to accelerate development in the country.

Mrs. Kabamba notes that government’s development agenda is huge especially in the education and health sector as it requires the participation of the private sector.
