3,000 police officers to be recruited in 2019 – Kampyongo

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo says his Ministry intends to recruit 3, 000 police officer this year.

Mr. Kampyongo was responding to a question by Mkushi North Member of Parliament Doreen Mwape, who wanted to know how many Police Officers were recruited from 2015-2018, year by year, when the next recruitment will be undertaken and how many police officers will be recruited.

In response, Mr. Kampyongo has told the house that 3, 200 police officers were recruited between 2015 to 2018.

He says the recruitment was only done in 2015 and 2018.

Mr Kampyongo explains that 1, 700 police officers were recruited in 2015, while 1500 were recruited in 2018.

And Mr. Kampyongo says the next recruitment will only be done once the Ministry of Finance gives the go ahead.
