Tale of two halves – Komphela

Steve Komphela felt Friday’s Absa Premiership clash between Chippa United and his Lamontville Golden Arrows team was a classic tale of two halves as the two sides drew 1-1 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

“I think for the neutral it was a nice match to watch but maybe not so for us as Arrows and Chippa,” he said after the 1-01 draw where Arrows led at halftime through Knox Mutizwa’s effort and Chippa equalised in the 70th minute from Lerato Manzini.

“We had a good first half, dominated the match and scored a beautiful goal. We won the first half,” said Komphela, who has now had eight games in charge since taking over at Arrows, losing only one.

“But they had a better second half. They started off very well; I thought we gave away too much space and we weren’t as close as we should have been to make life difficult for them to play,” he added.

“We made an error where we conceded the goal. One could say we won the first half and they won the second half, but I’m left with the feeling we could have done better. We have to accept the result as is.”
