FODEP convene for Seventh National Elective Congress

Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) members from across the country have convened in Chilanga for the Seventh National Elective Congress.

The Congress has attracted more than Forty Five delegates who are expected to elect new FODEP Executive office bearers.

Speaking when he addressed the delegates, FODEP Founding Member Simon Kabanda challenged the organisation to rekindle the citizens’ morale to take part in the country’s governance activities.

Mr. Kabanda has observed that a lot of Zambian citizens have lost interest in taking part in the country’s governance programmes such as elections and the offering of checks and balances due to lack of trust for elected leaders.

He says this is a recipe for undemocratic tendencies, adding that FODEP should endeavor to start emphasizing on the need for citizens to start taking a centre stage in the country’s governance activities.

Meanwhile Mr. Kabanda has emphasized on the need for Zambians to be responsible citizens accountable to themselves as well as to the country.

Mr. Kabanda has charged that there is a lot of irresponsibility among most Zambians, adding that it is not enough for citizens to make certain demands from government when they themselves cannot be responsible.
