NDC places Musenge on a 21 days forced leave

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has placed its Secretary General Mwenya Musenge on a 21 days forced leave.

Announcing the decision at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Party Vice President Joseph Akafumba emphasized that Mr. Musenge has not been suspended but merely placed on leave.

Mr. Akafumba explains that the decision was arrived at following a central committee meeting.

He says this is to allow Mr. Musenge to reflect on his recent conduct which saw him announce to the nation that Party consultant Chishimba Kambwili had been fired.

Mr. Akafumba says the decision and announcement made by Mr. Musenge that Mr. Kambwili was fired was done outside the party’s constitution and that the act has since brought the party into disrepute.

He says Mrs. Bridget Atanga who is the party’s deputy secretary general will act as secretary general for the next 21 days.
