Police recorded 43 incidents during February 12th by-elections

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyyongo has disclosed that 43 violence incidents were recorded by Police during the January 10th to February 12th by-elections.

In a ministerial statement to Parliament, Mr Kampyongo says assault cases topped the list of violence incidents with 25 cases being recorded.

Mr. Kampyongo says nine Police brutality cases on citizens were also recorded.

He says in Sesheke, the neglect objectives by those responsible for protection of lives and property and maintenance of law and order coupled with a polarized political climate and fear resulted in violence incidents getting out of control.

Mr Kampyongo says poor policing in Sesheke was evident from failure by the Police to follow up serious criminal incidents including the case of arson in which a house was set on fire resulting in the loss of property inside and the house itself.
