UPND hails professionalism of fired Sesheke cops

The opposition UPND has hailed the four dismissed Police officers following the violence that marred the Sesheke parliamentary by-election for their professionalism.

Speaking at a media briefing, UPND Chairperson for elections Garry Nkombo has praised the officers for their professional conduct during the just ended Sesheke parliamentary by-election.

Mr Nkombo has encouraged the officers that though the day may be dark for them for now, they will always be remembered as heroes by the masses.

He has also demanded to know what action has been taken against the PF supporters who were wielding the confiscated machetes in Sesheke.

Mr. Nkombo says instead of dismissing the professional police officers, the police should have focused on telling the public the truth concerning what transpired in Sesheke.

Meanwhile Mr. Nkombo says his party will report PF Secretary General Davies Mwila to the police following his threats of violence on the UPND.

And UPND Chairperson for Legal Affairs Jack Mwiimbu says the firing of the four police officers by the Zambia Police Command will impede officers from professionally conducting their duties.

Mr. Mwiimbu has since challenged President Edgar Lungu and the entire Police command to reflect deeply on the crisis they are creating in the country.
