MoF released K5.7 billion in January for govt operations

The Ministry of Finance released a total of K5.7 billion in January to finance and facilitate public service delivery in various ministries, provinces and other controlling agencies.

Out of the K5.7 billion, K713.8 million went towards support to institutions, subsidies and general operations.

From the K713.8 million, K159.3 million went towards supporting the activities and operations of various central government institutions.

Public Health Institutions under the Ministry of Health also got K50 million for procurement of drugs and other medical supplies from the same funds.

A total of K116.4 million was released to support the operations of other public entities and quasi-government institutions.

An additional K89.9 million was released to support the operations of local authorities across the country through the Local Government Equalisation Fund.

Another  K22.3 million went towards various pension related matters under the Public Service Pensions Fund.

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) was funded K69.9 million during the month under review to continue with the effective mobilisation of domestic revenues.

The Treasury also released K360.3 million towards government’s programme on agriculture diversification and speedy implementation of the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) received K55 million during the month under review for procurement of maize and other grains and to liquidate some outstanding bills.

Capital expenditure releases in the month under review totalled K210.8 million of which, K197.3 million went towards making payments for continued works and completion of road projects.

To facilitate effective debt management and ensure fiscal sustainability, the Government released a sum of K2.5 billion towards the payment of both domestic and external debt.

An amount of K33 million was also released to liquidate outstanding liabilities related to previously consumed goods and services by various Ministries, Provinces and Other Controlling Agencies.
