Medical Stores is servicing 927, 000 on ARV treatment – EL

President Edgar Lungu says the Medical Stores Limited is currently servicing 927, 000 Zambians who are accessing Antiretroviral treatment.

President Lungu says  government is therefore delighted that through the Medical Stores and its partners a robust public health supply chain system for essential medicines has been built.

He states that the joint investment in the supply chain has resulted in 100 percent availability of Antiretroviral drugs, malaria and tuberculosis medicines in the Country.

President Lungu says in the next three years of the Seventh National Development Plan and the National Health Strategic plan, government intends to build on the gains made so far in the heath sector.

He was speaking during the commissioning of the newly constructed Mpika District regional hub for the Medical Stores Limited in Muchinga province.

And President Lungu says the Mpika Medical Stores regional hub is a visible and credible example of money well planned and well spent to strengthen national supply chain system of medicines.

He has since thanked the Global Fund, UNDP and USAID for making available the US$2 million spent on the construction of the  Mpika Medical Stores regional hub which will service Muchinga Province.

Meanwhile while in Muchinga President Lungu also visited Chilonga Mission Hospital and inspected the construction of new student hostels at the nursing school.

He was accompanied by among others, Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya.
