We have embraced a smart Zambia- President Lungu

President Edgar Lungu says Zambia has embraced digital revolution in recognition of the contribution that Information and Communications Technology (ICTs) makes to economic growth.

President Lungu says government is promoting a smart Zambia because it is also aware that ICTs will contribute to the job creation agenda.

He believes that ICTs will equally encourage a knowledge driven economy besides helping to increase Africa’s competitiveness in the global economy.

The President was speaking through Minister of Commerce Christopher Yaluma, who represented him at the Smart Africa board meeting held In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Smart Africa was created by heads of states in 2013 in Kigali where they committed to provide leadership in accelerating socio-economic development through ICT’s.

This is according to a statement made available to Q-News by first secretary for press at the Zambian mission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Inutu Mupango Mwanza.
