Chief Kizela of the Kaonde Speaking People Mufumbwe District in North Western Province has rubbished allegations by PF deputy media director Antonio Mwanza that UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has connections with Moxico Resources Limited the company that has partnered with Kalengwa Mines.
Recently, Mr. Mwanza authored an article on social media titled “Is HH riding Moxico resources to support his party where he alleged that the UPND leader, his party’s Chairperson for International Relations, Mr. Mulondwe Muzungu and some named Ministry of Mines’ officials used to launder money to finance UPND campaigns and activities.
But briefing the media in Lusaka on Monday, Chief Kizela disclosed that in the partnership the mine has entered with Moxico, they have not allowed any politicians.
Chief Kizela suspects that people who are jealousy of the development that is being recorded at the mine have again ganged up to fight the development after a 10 years court battle which saw the verdict passed in favor of the mine.
He says there is a clique of individuals who want to ensure that as a Kaonde Chief, he is not associated with the development that is taking place in Mufumbwe District.
And the traditional leader has thanked President Edgar Lungu for not heeding to advice from the people he says are enemies of development to have the mine expropriated.
Kalengwa mine in Mufumbwe Town will soon re-open as most of the ground works patterning to operations have been done.
