Defence Chiefs directed to probe disloyal soldiers

Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Sturdy Mwale has directed defence chiefs to investigate officers who are disloyal to the president.

His directive comes barely 24 hours after President Edgar Lungu revealed that some officers in the security wings have been sending their curriculum vitae’s to the opposition for possible promotion in the event of regime change.

Mr. Mwale says it will be difficult to achieve the ministry’s plans for 2019 working with indiscipline officers.

Speaking at a media briefing, Mr. Mwale has urged defence forces to exhibit high levels of discipline.

He has emphasized the need for military personnel to be professional and avoid engaging in politics.

Meanwhile Mr. Mwale has declared the defence forces ready to mitigate any natural disaster that may occur in the country.

He says with or without funds the defence forces are ready to respond to calamities.
