Britain resumes health funding to Zambia

The United Kingdom (UK) has reinstated health funding to Zambia in recognition of the financial reforms that have been put in place by the Zambian government through the Ministry of Health.

British High Commissioner to Zambia Fergus Cochrane-Dyet announced during the ministry of health annual consultant meeting held in Lusaka that the resumption of systems follows the suspension of funds which were communicated to the ministry of health last year in august.

Mr. Cochrane-Dyet says the UK government is pleased to have resumed its financial support to the ministry of health, however, cautioned the ministry on the need to be prudent and transparent in the use of donor funds.

In August last year, Britain froze its entire funding programme to Zambia amid allegations of fraud and embezzlement of funds by government officials in ministries it offered support.
