Wina undergoes minor limb corrective surgery in India

Vice President Inonge Wina has undergone a minor corrective surgery relating to an old age limb cartilage problem in India.

Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo says Mrs. Wina 79, stayed in hospital for less than 48 hours for the operation before she was discharged.

Mr. Kasolo states that the operation that Mrs. Wina underwent was therefore not life threatening adding that she is in fact not limping.

In an exclusive interview with Q-News Mr. Kasolo says the Vice President is however still receiving physiotherapy at the same hospital that is near a hotel she is staying.

Mr. Kasolo states that as part of physiotherapy, Mrs. Wina has been walking on her own from the hotel to the said hospital.

He could not however indicate when her physiotherapy will end and when she is likely to return home as doctors examining her are yet to determine when she can do so.

The Information and Broadcasting Service Permanent Secretary has nevertheless disclosed that the Vice President’s travel for specialized treatment in India was not an evacuation by government.

He states that the Mrs. Wina used a normal commercial airline to travel and will use the same means to come back.
