TEVETA spends K23.1million to train SMEs in 2018

The Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) has disclosed that it has spent a total of Twenty Three point one million kwacha on training small medium scale entrepreneurs across the country in 2018.

TEVETA Acting Director General Cleophas Takaiza says the k23.1 million saw over 9,700 SMEs being trained in various courses.

Mr. Takaiza says TEVETA is committed to ensuring that small medium scale entrepreneurs are equipped with the much needed training and qualifications.

He says this is in order to enhance the chances of self-employment for youths through the utilization of hands-on and entrepreneurship skills imparted on them, and addressing the skills gap in SMEs and the informal sector players who often acquire skills informally.

Mr. Takaiza is therefore hopeful that the funding of training programs will address the challenge of unemployment in the country as well as increase productivity in the country.
