Govt hails ZAF’s contribution to transforming Zambia

Government has hailed the contributions the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has been making towards the transformation of Zambia into a prosperous middle income Country.

Minister of Defense Davies Chama  has also commended ZAF for not recording any air accidents in the ending year of 2018.

Speaking at the 2018 ZAF annual ball held under the theme “celebrating the past and serving the future” where he was guest of honor, Mr. Chama stated that the aspect of safety in airman-ship is important.

Mr. Chama says he is equally pleased with the air forces’ resolution to enhance its gunnery, rocketry and bombing exercises and the out of base operations.

He says this will send an assurance to the population of government’s protection in border line areas and also help keep both the air and ground crews current and efficient.

The Minister of Defense has however urged ZAF to utilize prudently the funds that it has received from government for the construction of the new ground training school.

He has also urged the air force to speed up the process of acquiring the over 10,000 hectares in Kanchibiya District offered by Chief Kopa for agriculture and industrial activities.

And  ZAF commander David Muma said the year 2018 was a very successful year for the air force despite a number of challenges encountered such as low staffing levels and maintenance of equipment .

Lieutenant General Muma says limited and aging infrastructure has also been a challenge.
