Nakachinda urges further streamlining of govt expenditure

Government has been called upon to expand the scope of fiscal discipline by cutting down on all avoidable expenditures.

MMD Felix Mutati led faction National Secretary Raphael Nakachinda is particularly urging government to further streamline expenditure on all government trips.

Mr. Nakachinda, who is also a nominated member of parliament, has observed that government is still paying for trips for officials who are not necessarily needed on certain travels.

He tells QTV News that it these expenses he considers avoidable expenditures that are not even being captured by the office of the auditor general.

Mr. Nakachinda says his concern, in this case, is that such avoidable expenditures could in fact be more than what is being reported by the auditor general as misappropriated public funds.

He notes that much as there is political-will to commit to fiscal discipline as demonstrated by government, there is more government can do to prevent wastage of public resources.
