LWSC & ZB partner to improve sanitation in Lsk’s George Compound

The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company have signed a US$150 million partnership with Zambian Breweries aimed at increasing and improving water and sanitation coverage in Lusaka’s George Compound under the Lusaka sanitation program.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Company Managing Director Jonathan Kampata says the George Water Supply Scheme will see an increase in communal water points and help increase water service coverage to service other areas not in the initial project area.

Mr. Kampata says currently, the water supply system in George compound does not correspond to the population in the area, thereby putting pressure on the aged infrastructure resulting in reduced hours of supply in the area.

He is hopeful that the company in partnership with Zambian breweries will execute the project in a timely manner so that that the people of george compound can be able to access clean and safe water.

Mr Kampata has since commended Zambian Breweries for being relentless in its commitment in ensuring improved water and sanitation services to the people.

And Zambian Breweries Country Manager Jose Moran says the partnership with Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company is one way of giving back to the community.

He says the company has a huge responsibility to improve the lives of people around its area of operation.

Mr. Moran has urged other institutions to come on board in ensuring that communities are provided with safe drinking water and sanitation services.
