Reports of hunger breakouts are real, Mapani tells govt

Government has been urged to take seriously reports of people surviving of mangoes due to hunger in some parts of country.

UPND Chairperson for Rural Development and Reconstruction, Moono Mapani says government should realize that reports of hunger breaking out in the rural areas of the Country are real.

Mr. Mapani tells Q-News that there is need therefore for government through the Office of the Vice President to quickly intervene.

He has wondered why government should delay in responding to hunger situations when it has been claiming that Zambia is food secure.

Mr. Mapani states that it will make more sense for the government to use part of the food reserves and ameliorate the hunger situation in some parts of the country.
