Tonga Warns SADC against Protecting Kabila

The Third Liberation Movement has urged Southern African Development Community (SADC) to take bold action to address the worsening crisis in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Party Leader Enock Tonga says reports that the situation in rural areas has deteriorated with opposition supporters reportedly being harassed and forced into hiding is a source of concern and should be addressed as soon as possible.

Mr. Tonga has told QTV news that there is urgent need for the regional community to stand and fight in the corner of DRC and its people rather than political elites.

He has since appealed to president lungu who is SADC organ on politics, defence and security cooperation chairperson to show leadership as the people of DRC are looking up to him for help.

Mr. Tonga has acknowledged that it is important for SADC and the international community to condemn the burning of an electoral commission depot in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He has since implored SADC to consider the views of the citizens of DRC and not the interest of those who want to remain in power.
