Govt urged to involve traditional leaders to curb deforestation

Lands Minister Jean Kapata has been urged to deploy some forest rangers in the country that will help in curbing rising levels of deforestation in the country.

Chief Mphande of the Mambwe speaking people in Mbala has noted the need for government especially the ministry of land to work with traditional leaders to find lasting solution to the deforestation as well as prevent deforestation.

Chief Mphande stressed that this is the most important help government can render towards climate change by putting an end to deforestation.

He says time immemorial forest game rangers were deployed to be patrolling and seeing to it that people do not cut down trees anyhow especially those along the rivers or streams.

Chief Mphande has called for collaboration between ministry of lands and traditional chiefs in the country in order to stop deforestation.
