Levy Mwanawasa medical university nears completion

Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya says the construction the K180 million Levy Mwanawasa Medical School is nearing completion with construction works now at 95 percent complete.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the ongoing construction of the Levy Mwanawansa Medical School and University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, in the company of Presidential affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe, Dr. Chilufya says the hospital is expected to address the challenge of congestion at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

Dr. Chilufya says the health system government is pursing in order to attain health for all, involves creation of new infrastructure, building human capital among others.

He adds that once completed, the Levy Mwanawasa Medical School and Teaching hospital will quadruple bed space for tertiary level services.

Dr. Chilufya states that the Levy Mwanawasa hospital will have modern equipment for diagnostic among other specialized medical services so as to ensure quality health care in the country.

And Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe says the hospital which will soon be part of the training facility is a very important national health facility.
