Barclays spent $4.2 million in 2018 – Melu

Barclays Bank Zambia Managing Director, Mzinga Melu has disclosed that the bank has this year spent about $4.2 million in financing various projects in the various sectors of the economy.

Ms. Melu has explained that the $4.2 million was spent on financing projects in Energy, Agriculture, and Mining among other sectors.

She has pledged her bank’s support to key sectors to cushion the impact of the challenging economic environment the country has been experiencing.

Ms Melu has told Journalists during an end year breakfast briefing that the bank will continue to support the mining, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, telecommunication and public sectors.

She says the bank has also invested about K42 million in its technological advancement in the quest to ensure that every Zambian is financially included.

Meanwhile Ms. Melu says so far the bank has reached 54,000 farmers of the targeted 75,000 under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
