Lungu is fooling Zambians, charges Kambwili

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Consultant Chishimba Kambwili has charged that President Edgar Lungu is fooling the Zambian people by claiming to be committed to the fight against corruption.

Reacting to the President’s speech during the commemoration of the international anti-corruption day on Sunday in which he said his government is committed to making Zambia a corruption free zone on the African continent, Mr. Kambwili, is also Patriotic Front Roan Member of Parliament,  says president Lungu was merely playing to the gallery by making such a statement.

Mr. Kambwili says it is actually annoying that President Lungu went to the extent of calling for the arrest of all those involved in corruption.

Speaking to QTV news shortly after the adjournment of his court case, Mr. Kambwili wondered why the head of state can make such a call when the fight against corruption in the country should in fact start with his office.

Mr. Kambwili states that President Lungu must start with his staff at state house and cabinet ministers in fighting corruption if anyone is going to take his commitment to the fight against corruption seriously.

And Mr. Kambwili has described the last week’s constitutional court ruling which cleared President Lungu to seek re-election in 2021 as laughable.

He has further described the year ending 2018 as disastrous for the country.

Meanwhile the matter in which Mr. Kambwili is facing 34 counts of being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime has been adjourned to February 28, 2019.

The matter was adjourned when it came up for fixing of trial dates.
