Sakala defends independence of Zambia’s judiciary

Former Chief Justice Ernest Sakala has defended the independence of the Zambian Judiciary.

Justice Sakala, who has 35 years of experience in the judiciary, says the Country’s  Courts operate without any undue influence from any arm of government.

He states that all verdicts by the courts are made independently after careful study and analysis without any interference from anyone.

Justice Sakala, who has been appointed as leader of the SADC election observer mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, said this in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ahead of his mission.

And Justice Sakala says the role of the SADC elections observer mission will be to see to it that the elections in DRC follow the SADC principles and standards of elections.

President Edgar Lungu, who is Chair of the SADC organ on Politics, Defense and Security, appointed the retired Chief Justice to lead the SADC mission to monitor elections in DRC which are due this month.
