State House, Cabinet hails Friday’s ConCourt ruling

State House has hailed the decision by the Constitutional Court to clear President Edgar Lungu to contest the 2021 elections.

Minister of Presidential Affairs Freedom Sikazwe says the ruling by the Constitutional Court has not only brought joy to State House but also to all patriotic Zambians.

Mr. Sikazwe says just like State House is happy that the case in which President Lungu’s eligibility to stand in 2021 was questioned has now been concluded, the rest of Zambians should equally be happy.

He has since thanked the people of Zambia and ruling Patriotic Front members for the patience they have shown by giving the Court the necessary time to conclude the matter and pass its verdict.

Mr. Sikazwe, who is also Mpulungu Member of Parliament, says with this ruling by the Court all those that had intentions to stand as PF presidential candidates , should put aside their political ambitions.

The Minister of Presidential Affairs spoke to QTV News in an interview.

And Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela says the Constitutional Court’s ruling has vindicated President Lungu.

Mr. Chitotela, who is also Pambashe lawmaker has told QTV News that President Lungu has also demonstrated that he is a patient leader.

He says the PF government is thus happy that it gave the Judiciary space and time to dispense justice.

Meanwhile Minister of Justice, who is also Kabwata MP, Given Lubinda, says the Court’s ruling gives the ruling PF every reason to start organizing itself for President Lungu’s 2021 candidature.

Mr. Lubinda states that Cabinet is very happy that President Lungu has been declared eligible to seek re-election in the next election.

He tells Q-News in a separate interview that the Court’s decision therefore augments the PF Central Committee’s decision to settle on President Lungu as the PF presidential candidate in 2021.
