HPCZ lifts suspension on CBU medicine programmes

The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) has lifted the suspension on two medicine programmes at the Copperbelt University’s Michael Chilufya Sata School of Medicine.

Last month, the HPCZ suspended the CBU School of Medicine’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and the Bachelor of Dental Surgery on the basis of lack of capacity to offer the programmes.

HPCZ Senior Public Relations Officer Chinyota Msimuko has told a media briefing that the decision to lift the suspension has been arrived at after the Copperbelt University met the minimum prerequisites and committed to an agreed rectification road map to continue addressing all remaining recommendations.

Mr. Msimuko says all academic activities in the said programmes have since been allowed to begin with immediate effect.

He has since commended CBU management, students, parents, sponsors, regulators and other stakeholders for the support rendered to the council.
