ZRA confiscates alcohol worth K700, 000

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has intercepted three trucks in different location with alcohol believed to be meant for Christmas celebrations worth about 700 thousand kwacha in taxes.

ZRA Corporate Communications Manager, Topsy Sikalinda say the trucks were intercepted by elite anti-smuggling squads working together with customs officers from Chirundu border.

Mr Sikalinda says one of the trucks was intercepted in southern province on the new bottom road off Siavonga in the bush were it was found offloading into two canter trucks and two small busses.

He says the other trucks were intercepted in Chirubdu district with forged documents purporting to be carrying various furniture fittings.

Mr Sikalinda states that this is a straight seizure, and that the authority will recommend for forfeiture of the goods and the trucks to the state.
