Adopt female candidates in Sesheke, political parties urged

Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) National Director Maureen Samulela has called on political parties to consider adopting more women in the forthcoming sesheke parliament by-election in western as a way of promoting gender equality in the country.

The sesheke parliamentary constituency seat fell vacant following the death of the UPND Member of Parliament Frank Kufakwandi.

But Ms. Samulela says considering that there are few women who are in decision making positions, there is need for political parties to adopt more women.

She has told QTV news that it is important for all political parties participating in the forth coming by-election to consider adopting more women candidates.

Mrs. Samulela has emphasized that if women are adopted they will make a difference as they have motherly love and a heart for the people.
