Livingstone central hospital treating almost 4, 000 HIV patients

The Livingstone central hospital is currently treating almost 4, 000 patients of hiv.

Acting Hospital Director Kaseya Chiyenu says treatment of hiv at public health institution is now a specialized service.

Dr. Chiyenu has told a Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection (JCTR) media team that toured newly constructed facilities for surgical services at the hospital that the institution intends to capture more patients on a-r-t.

He states that this is especially with the support of donors.

Dr. Chiyenu, who is also Livingstone central hospital head of clinical care, has also disclosed that there are about 25 patients with chronic dialysis who have ascribed to be serviced at his health institution.

He says this is not however all number of patients suffering from kidney failure in southern province, but that the 25 patients being attended, are what the hospital’s budget can allow.

The acting Livingstone central hospital director has further assured the JCTR media team that 24 air conditioners that are needed for equipment at the hospital’s newly constructed eye and dental surgical complex will soon be installed.

He says he has already approved the installation of the air conditioners.
