Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, Dora Siliya says she will soon sign a Statutory Instrument to ensure broadcasting regulations are adhered to.

In a speech read on her behalf at the Radio Indaba in Lusaka by the Director of Press and media relations, Isaac Chipampe, Ms Siliya has noted that professionalism is lacking in most radio stations across the country.

She says while government has facilitated for a conducive environment in which the media can thrive, government believes that it is the duty of media associations such as MISA Zambia to ensure that professionalism is observed.

Ms Siliya says it the expectation of government that radio stations ensure they rid the broadcasting industry of bad vices by being professional.

She is therefore optimistic that the two day indaba which has brought together representatives of over 115 radio stations from across the country will help the media practitioners and owners to discuss how technology can be taken advantage of to grow the media business.

Meanwhile Misa Zambia Vice Chairperson, Hyde Haguta Has Appealed To Government To Come Up With A Media Policy That Will Protect The Operations Of The Media Especially Broadcasting.

Mr Haguta Has Also Appealed To Government To Bring An End To The Exploitation Of Workers By Owners Of Private Radio Stations Through Giving Their Employees Less Pay For More Work.
