Police in Mambwe District in Eastern Province have arrested a 23 year-old Malawian national for allegedly defiling a 13 year old minor of Komwanjali farm in chief Jumbe’s area.
Eastern province police commissioner Luckson Sakala has identified the suspect as Khondwani Banda.
Mr. Sakala says the incident happened on the 17th of November around 23:00 hours.
He says brief facts of the matter are that on the fateful night, the victim was sleeping in the same house with suspect, but in a different room.
Mr. Sakala narrates that during the course of the night, the suspect forced himself on the minor, defiling her in the process.
He states that the suspect is currently detained at Mambwe police station and will appear in court soon.
