EL,HH meet over dialogue,as Police question HH

HH ELPresident Edgar Lungu has met with UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema during a meeting facilitated by the three church mother bodies namely the Council of Churches in Zambia, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The meeting which was held on Monday, 12th November 2018 was part of the church’s continued effort build consensus on the processes and issues that need to be taken into account in the national dialogue and reconciliation process.

According to a joint statement issued to Q-News and signed by CCZ President Bishop Sydney Sichilima,EFZ Chairperson Bishop Paul Mususu and ZCCB President Bishop George Lungu, the two leaders expressed unconditional support to an inclusive and church led national dialogue and reconciliation process.

The two further assured the Church of their availability and commitment to future direct engagements.

The statement further states that the landmark meeting between the two political rivals was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere with the two leaders addressing each other as brothers with great respect for each.

The three church mother bodies have since expressed profound appreciation that the two leaders were able to have this meeting without preconditions.

The church mother bodies have assured the nation that they are full of hope for a quicker and successful national dialogue process.

Meanwhile Police in Ndola have recorded a warn caution statement from UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr Hichilema appeared for questioning at the Copperbelt Police division headquarters this morning for allegedly inciting the recent riots in Kitwe over the purported sale of ZAFFICO.

Mr Hichilema who was questioned for about five hours was accompanied by UPND vice president Geoffrey Mwamba,NDC Consultant Chishimba Kambwili,People’s Alliance for Change president Andyford Banda among others.

Armed police officers sealed off the divisional headquarters during the interrogation.

The UPND leader is alleged to have incited the riots when he claimed during a live radio program that ZAFFICO had been sold to the Chinese.
