Grief claim 15 who lost businesses to City Market fire

About 15 out of the marketeers who lost merchandise and other properties in the fire that swept through the Lusaka City Market in July last year are reported to have died.

One of the surviving affected marketeer, Doreen Kabindawina has disclosed that majority of those that have died, over a period of one year, had been suffering from either stroke or High Blood Pressure.

Doreen KabindawinaMrs. Kabindawina, who has resumed her business at the City Market tells Q-News that this is an indication of the misery marketeers whose business was affected by the fire having been going through.

She says she has thus been wondering why government has not come to the aid of such marketeers when it has been giving financial support to others who also lost merchandise in other market fires.

Mrs. Kabindawina says she personally finds it hard to believe whether indeed there are well-wishers in Zambia for a tragedy to happen but none of them coming to aid of the affected marketeers.

She thinks that if there were well-wishers in the Country they would have by now helped out marketeers that lost their businesses to the fire.
