UPND hopes for equal treatment as PF from Police

UPND Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka

The Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) is hoping that Police in Ndola will accord them the same treatment accorded to Patriotic Front members who were demonstrating against attacks on the Chinese when they escort party leader Hakainde Hichilema for questioning next week on Tuesday.

UPND Deputy Spokesperson, Patrick Mucheleka says the PF protest went incident free as the police gave them all the protection they needed which his party would like to see on Tuesday.

Mr. Mucheleka says his party hopes that the express speed at which the permit was given to the ruling party to conduct the demonstration is a true reflection of the change of heart on the part of the police in the application of the Public Order Act and will equally allow the UPND protest march.

The UPND has organised a protest march to be held on the day the party leader will be appearing for questioning before the Police in Ndola on allegations of inciting riots on the purported sale of ZAFFICO.
