The Food Agriculture Organization has observed that the diversification agenda in Zambia has been gaining momentum especially with the introduction of the farmer input support program electronic voucher system.

FAO Country Representative Dr. George Okech says with the introduction of the fisp electronic voucher farmers have a wide range of option in terms of what types of crops they want to grow.

He says by virtue of having access to different crops under the fisp electronic voucher system they are therefore encouraged to diversify their crops.

Mr. Okech has however recommended the need to encourage and sensitize farmers on the importance of growing different crops as opposed to mono-cropping.
