Minister of Transport and Communication Brian Mushimba has disclosed that the rainfall forecast indicates that the rainy season in the Country will start by late November this year.

Mr. Mushimba states that the season will start from the northern parts of the Country and will be characterized by intervals of dry spells.

In a ministerial statement Mr. Mushimba has told Parliament the northern parts of the Country will however start experiencing thunderstorms and showers this month.

Mr. Mushimba says there is high chance that most of the rainfall across Zambia will be received in December this year and in January and February next year.

He has also told the House that there is equally a likelihood that the Country will receive below normal rainfall in March 2019, an indication, he says , is of an early ending of the 2018/2019 rainy reason.

Mr. Mushimba notes that this is especially over the Southern parts of Zambia.

He has since urged farmers and other stakeholders in the Country to regularly get meteorology forecast and updates from his Ministry and that of Agriculture.
