Ministry of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, Permanent Secretary, Bishop Eddie Chomba is optimistic that once the K150 million Kafue Bulk Water Project is completed, Lusaka will have improved water supply.

Bishop Chomba has told QTV news in an interview that 90 percent of the works on the project which is aimed at pumping water for consumption from Kafue to Lusaka have so far been done.

He says the remaining works are the setting up of water pump stations.

Bishop Chomba adds that the project is in line with the vision 2030 and the seventh national development plan which has prioritized the provision of clean water and sanitation to the people.

Meanwhile Bishop Chomba has called on the general public to join efforts aimed at ensuring that the country does not record any cholera cases.

Bishop says his ministry is in a hurry to ensure that residents of kanyama have access to tap water as a means to avoid the reoccurrence of the disease in the area.

He however, states that this calls for concerted efforts as the provision of tap water alone may not be enough.
