The Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) has warned that teachers who will be found wanting in the on-going investigation into examination malpractices face deregistration.

Council Spokesperson Ngoza Malonga says any involvement by teachers in such acts is in breach of the code of ethics for the teaching profession and the teaching profession act no. 5 of 2013.

Ms. Malonga says the Teaching Council of Zambia greatly regrets the alleged involvement of some teachers in the leakage of examination papers.

She Ms Malonga says the council is committed to bringing sanity to the teaching profession with the focus to protect the interests of parents, society and the nation at large.

She states that the occurrence of examination malpractices at any level of education poses a great threat to the validity and authenticity of credentials.

Ms. Malonga notes that the involvement of some teachers in examination malpractices provides tangible evidence of the urgent need for the Teaching Council of Zambia to keep up the pace in regulating the teaching profession.
