Kambwili describes as madness Mosho’s 48hr ultimatum

Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has described as madness the 48-hours ultimatum given to him by Lusaka lawyer Lewis Mosho to pay K5 million in Court costs or face bankruptcy proceedings.

The Court costs arise from a matter in which Mr. Kambwili and his Mazabuka counterpart Garry Nkombo filed an application to join proceedings in which Lusaka resident Robert Chabinga challenged the Speaker of the National Assembly’s decision to accept an impeachment motion against President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Kambwili says he cannot pay as much as K5 million for an application which lasted only 10 minutes in Court and was later dismissed.

He says he believes that lawyers are supposed to live above board and have integrity in everything that they do.

Mr Kambwili who is also National Democratic Congress (NDC) Leader has warned that if Mr. Mosho wants to come on the political scene he risks being bruised as politicians like him will be ready for him.

Meanwhile the matter in which Mr. Kambwili is facing 34 counts of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime has failed to take-off.

The matter which was supposed to come up for continued trial before Lusaka Magistrate Mwaka could not take-off because the trial magistrate is attending a training for magistrates.

The matter has since been adjourned to the 30th of November.
