Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has announced that government will next month commence the construction of a modern state of the art medical stores hub in Kabompo Northwestern province worth over 2million United States Dollars.

Speaking after touring a rented temporary medical hub in Kabompo, Dr Chilufya said government has resolved to have a zero stock out of drugs in the country and is and is therefore decentralizing the medical stores across the country to address the inefficiencies related to availability and provision of drugs.

Dr. Chilufya states that government has decentralized the medical stores in Chipata, Mongu, Choma, Mansa, Mpika and Luanshya and for Northwestern Province; the modern hub will be constructed in Kabompo as it centrally located for easy distribution around the province.

He has however explained that government is currently renting a temporal medical hub in Kabompo which will be fully stocked with drugs by 20th November 2018.

Dr Chilufya adds that his ministry will allocate three 7.5 tonnes trucks and a number of land cruises at the temporal hub to be used in the distribution of medicines in rural areas across Northwestern Province.

He states that government is decentralizing the medical stores in two phases which involve renting a temporal structure as a hub as the construction of the permanent hub is embarked on.
